A series of regional meetings in 2019 are giving Kansans the opportunity to help shape the future of transportation in Kansas. These Local Consult meetings will inform the state's next Long Range Transportation Plan, the planning document that will guide investments from 2020 to 2045. The FMCSA has proposed the following changes to the Hours of Service (HOS) rule: Broaden the short-haul exception to make it available to certain commercial drivers by lengthening drivers’ maximum on-duty period from 12 to 14 hours, and extend the distance limit within which the driver may operate from 100 air miles to 150 air miles.
