Kansas Grain and Feed Association is hosting two operational, equipment and maintenance seminars in Kearney, Nebraska and Hays, Kansas.  In addition, Jess McCluer with the National Grain and Feed Association will provide an update on the status of OSHA standards and enforcement practices directly impacting the grain, feed and processing industry.

About Brian Grimm:

Brian Grimm, Director- AVP of Safety & Compliance with Bartlett Grain Company, L.P. is responsible for leading Bartlett’s safety, health and environmental programs.  Prior to joining Bartlett in 2002, Mr. Grimm was Plant Manager for ADM Milling and Operation’s Manager and Reengineering Specialist for Moorman Manufacturing.   In these roles Brian was responsible for feed mills, flour mills, grain elevators, vitamin and premix operations, fabrication shops, and feedlots.  Brian is now directing his efforts for Bartlett’s Mexico operations. Brian earned his undergraduate degrees in Agricultural Engineering and Feed Science & Management from Kansas State University.  Brian also completed his MBA. Brian holds his CSP, SHE, SPHR-SCP and SPHR certifications. Brian is an active member for the NGFA environmental, health and safety committee, grain handling safety coalition.

About Jon Brown:

Jon has over 27 years’ experience in the commercial and industrial construction industry. For the last 15 years he has overseen all capital projects for MKC, Producer Ag, and Mid-West Fertilizer. His projects have totaled over $300 million. In addition, Jon and his millwright team are responsible for maintenance and repairs to over 60 facilities for grain, fuel, feed, and agronomy. Jon was one of the creative minds around the design of the MKC Learning Center in Moundridge Kansas. Jon is responsible for internal hands-on safety & maintenance training for more than 400 operations employees in all four divisions. Jon is the president of the GEAPS Great Plains chapter in Kansas. In 2024, Jon was appointed on the International GEAPS Board as treasurer and in that role, he leads the board’s stewardship of GEAPS’ financial resources and oversight of funding strategies for member programs, services and general operations.

About Joe Mlynek:

Joe holds a bachelors degree from Bowling Green State University in Environmental Policy and Analysis. He also holds a certification as an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) through the Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologists and is certified in LEAN Manufacturing. Prior to forming Progressive Safety Services, Joe worked in occupational safety and health positions in a wide array of industries including: automotive, metal fabrication, railcar repair, retail, manufacturing, chemical production and grain handling. His common-sense approach to safety focuses on working with clients to identify, reduce and eliminate exposures while developing a highly-skilled workforce. Joe is very passionate about safety in the workplace and believes that a safe workplace contributes to the overall success of an organization.

About Jess McCluer:

Jess is responsible for directing and managing the NGFA’s wide-ranging operations programs for grain elevators, feed mills, and grain processing plants. This includes NGFA’s activities regarding employee safety and industrial health, environmental issues, grain-handling facility design and equipment, grain inspection and weighing issues, grain and feed quality, crop technology, trade, and agroterrorism/facility security-related issues.  Jess also serves as Chairman of the Department of Homeland Security, Food and Drug Administration, and the US Department of Agriculture’s Food and Agriculture Sector Coordinating Council and represents NGFA on the USDA’s Agricultural Trade Advisory Committee for Trade in Grains, Feed, Oilseeds, and Planting Seeds. The Journal of Agromedicine selected Jess as its 2021 “Leader in the Field.” The annual award is for those who have made significant contributions in agricultural safety and health practice, policy, and research. Jess received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and his M.A. from George Washington University.
